This Dramatic Portrait
In the struggle between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for Mammon in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky film adaptation about the fallen religious broadcaster and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield acts as the venal Jim, who proclaims initially, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye commence monetising the American public's religious faith. It's a spectacle of poor styling, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, yet the lead actress succeeds to present the character with compassion. Next Tuesday, late night, on Film4
