Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
